Spokane County with Jon Isacoff

Today 12 birders had a great day out for a WOS field trip. The birding was superb; the weather was glorious; and the company was wonderful. As a group, we totalled 103 species (see full list below). Notable was the brilliant Lewis's Woodpecker discovered a few days earlier by Terry Little, which made a great appearance for all. Of great interest, we had a Dusky Grouse calling in a spot known for typical drumming of Ruffed Grouse along Madison Road. The original call was responded to when an Ipod was played back and was heard by at least eight of the group, making for a positive ID. This is to my knowledge one of a handful (perhaps the only?) Dusky report in Spokane below 3500 feet elevation.
