Grays Harbor & Pacific Counties with Tim O'Brien

Today, April 26, I led a WOS fieldtrip from Elma to the south side of Grays Harbor and Tokeland.  We ended the day with 100 species.  The weather started cold in the morning and then warmed quickly then cooled in the evening.  Warblers  seemed to be everywhere in good numbers.  Here's the highlights:

Elma (5am before daylight):  A Barn Owl flew over us as we were getting on highway 12.

Bottle Beach (5:45am-6:30am):  Dunlin, Western Sandpiper, Semipalmated Plover, Black-bellied Plover, both Dowitchers, one Red Knot, Brant

Ocosta Third Street (6:30am): Black-throated Gray Warbler, Townsend's Warbler, Wilson's Warbler, Varied Thrush, Cinnamon Teal

Brady's Oysters: Least Sandpiper

Westport Marina: several Common Loon, Pigeon Guillemot

Westport Jetty: Marbled Murrelet (pair in the channel)

Twin Harbors State Park:  Lincoln's Sparrow

Grayland: Northern Mockingbird (5 year resident bird)

Midway Beach: 3 Snowy Plover, Sanderling

Tokeland Marina: Whimbrel, Willet (just 2), Marbled Godwit, Eurasian Wigeon, Brant

Ocosta Third Street (3:30pm): Wood Duck, Ring-necked Duck

Bottle Beach (3:45pm-5:45pm): same as morning except 2 Red Knots this time, Greater White-fronted Goose flock fly over (and lots of great company!)

Bishop Athletic Complex: Least Sandpiper, American Pipit, Peregrine Falcon

Brady Loop: Greater Yellowlegs, Least Sandpiper

Elma (north side of highway 8 between Fairgrounds Rd and first Elma exit): Spotted Sandpiper, Cinnamon Teal

Good birding!
