Birders in Washington State can make important contributions to scientific investigations by reporting their sightings.

 

The Washington Bird Records Committee (WBRC) maintains the official list of all species seen in the state, and collects and evaluates reports of rare birds in the state.

 

To report a sighting, please email the committee and include the following information: 

 

Conditions

Date, location, and time of day you saw the bird.

Description of habitat

Weather and lighting conditions.

Species, number of bird(s)

Nearby birds for comparison?

 

Bird

Description of bird (size, shape, field marks)

Description of vocalizations heard

 

You

Your name, address, and email

Were any photos taken? If so, attach them to your email.

Optics you used

Did you take field notes at the time? Make any drawings?
