Washington Ornithological Society

The 16th Annual Conference of the Washington Ornithological Society, June 2004
was held at the University Inn, Moscow, Idaho, from Friday, June 4, through Sunday, June 6, 2004. Field trips, led by experienced birders, were conducted Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Friday night's speech was by Dr. Kas Dumrose, a plant biologist with the U.S. Forest Service in Moscow.  He gave a great overview of the Palouse region, covering geology, history, and current land-use issues.  Saturday night's presentation by was with Dr. Erik Stauber, the director of the Raptor Rehabilitation Center at WSU.  Erik brought 10 raptors to show us, including a Ferruginous Hawk and a Saw-whet Owl.

A complete write-up of the Conference appears on the cover of WOSNews 92.  What follows here is a bit more detail on the field trips and species seen.
