Red Lion Hotel and Conference Center in Wenatchee

The Red Lion Hotel and Conference Center in Wenatchee has reserved a block of rooms for participants of the WOS Conference at the rate of $99/night for single queen-bed rooms, and $109/night for king and queen double rooms. These rates reflect a discount from regular season rates. The extra charge for more than two people in a room is $10 per person. Reservations may be made by calling 1-800-redlion and asking for the Washington Ornithological Society June 2010 rates.

All rooms have coffee maker, iron, and complimentary high speed wireless internet service, and the double rooms also have a microwave and refrigerator. Only 20 rooms with refrigerators have been reserved each night, so if that is important to you, be sure to reserve early!

 

Camping

For those who wish to camp, Wenatchee Confluence State Park is located approximately 2.5 miles from the Red Lion. The park has eight tent spaces, 51 utility spaces, one dump station, six restrooms (all ADA), and 16 showers (eight are ADA). Maximum site length is 65 ft. (may have limited availability). Utility sites have full hookups. All sites have a picnic table and campfire grill. Individual campsites are reservable from April 1 through September 30. Call (888) CAMPOUT or (888) 226-7688. The park is adjacent ot the Horan Natural Area and offers great birding possiblities.

 

Directions

From Blewett Pass via I-90:

Take the Wenatchee exit and proceed over 97 No. (Blewett Pass). Hwy. 97 will come to a stop at Hwy. 2. Turn right. Follow Hwy. 2 into Wenatchee, staying in the left lane. The Red Lion will be on your left.

 

From Spokane via I-90:

Travel west on I-90 to the junction of Hwy. 281 near George. Go north on Hwy. 281 to Quincy. turn left on Hwy. 28 and go west through East Wenatchee across the bridge, and exit right onto Wenatchee Ave. The Red Lion will be on your right.

 


Meals

 

All meals are on your own, except the Saturday evening banquet.

 

There will be limited appetizers at the Friday evening social.

 

Boxed breakfasts and lunches are available through direct order with the hotel. You will need to put your order in the night before and pick it up 15 - 30 minutes before field trips depart in the morning. Payment will be directly to Red Lion and does not involve WOS.

 

Saturday Evening Banquet Meal Choices

 

Grilled Chicken Breast and Artichoke Penne Pasta

In lemon butter sauce with capers, roasted tomato, sliced mushroom, spinach, and parmesan cheese

 

Mustard Crusted Pork Loin on Sage Dressing

Served with fire-roasted cinnamon apples and brandy sauce

 

Medley of Roasted Vegetables in Pastry

With charred tomato and pepper sauce, topped with feta cheese

 

Entrees are served with signature house salad, balanced starch, seasonal vegetables, artisan bread and butter, and dessert. Refreshments include Tully's coffee, decaf, hot or iced tea, or you may purchase an alcoholic drink from the no-host bar.

 

The banquet dinner will be $30. Please indicate your entree choice on the registration form. if desired, additional meals may be purchased for those accompanying a conference attendee but not attending the conference.
